Home Visits
You are expected to come to the surgery if you need to see the doctor
or nurse unless you are elderly and infirm. Please do not ask the
doctor to call unless you are genuinely too ill to come to the
surgery.
Routine Home Visits
- Please try to phone before 10am if possible.
Urgent Home Visit Requests
will be passed to the duty doctor who will ring to assess the problem more
fully.
District Nurses:
are employed by the Primary Care trust and provide nursing care to
patients in their homes who are unable to attend the surgery. They can
be contacted by telephoning the Surgery on (01908) 520545
Out of
hours calls for Medical Emergencies
If you require urgent
medical attention outside of normal surgery hours telephone the
surgery and you will be put
through to NHS Direct Services
(0845
4647)
who will assess your problem and if
medical help is needed will pass the call over to MKDOC
(01908) 201022.
MKDOC
is a co-operative run by the Milton Keynes
PCT that provides
excellent service out of hours, at weekends and Bank Holidays. The
doctors at MKDOC will phone you back and either give telephone advice,
or arrange to see you at the out of hours centre (which is situated on
the hospital campus), or will visit you at home if it is medically
necessary.
However if you feel the
problem is a life or death emergency please telephone 999 for
an ambulance.
For medical advice only
you
may contact NHS Direct, telephone 0845 4647.
Telephone Advice from your
Doctor
It is best to call as early as
possible. The receptionists will take your message and phone number.
For routine messages your
doctor will phone back after morning surgery, usually between
11.30am
and
2.30pm. Any
emergency calls throughout the day will be handled by the
duty doctor for that day.
Routine telephone calls
after midday will be dealt with
between 1:30 and 2:30pm.
After 2:30pm these calls will be dealt with after morning surgery on
the next working day.
Results of Investigations
Please allow sufficient time for the
investigations to be processed at the hospital between 5-7 days. We
do not routinely inform patients when their results are
back and normal. Accordingly, to check up on your
results, after seven working days, please telephone the surgery
between 12-1pm and 4-6pm everyday when the reception staff are less
busy.
If the results are abnormal we will contact
you, so please ensure that we have an
upto date phone number for you on our records. If you are out and
there is an answer phone we do not leave messages. If we
are unable to contact you about an abnormal result we will notify you
of the result by letter. Please follow-up results with the doctor who
arranged the test.
