When you
join the surgery you are registered with the Practice and you will
have a names doctor on your computer records who will deal with your
paperwork and any repeat prescriptions. You are, however, free to
consult any of the GPs or Practice Nurses depending on the particular
problem.
It is obviously an advantage
to see the same person regularly
for a given problem so that progress can be assessed and continuity of
treatment is
maintained. This may however result in a
slightly longer wait to see the doctor of your choice.
Please do not take offence if staff do not ask you to give an
indication for the purpose of the appointment when booking this is to
allow sufficient time to be allocated for your needs and ensure that
you are booked with the right clinician to deal with your problem.
When not away from the surgery on leave or attending educational
courses, the doctors each hold a 3 hour surgery in the morning and 2
1/2 hour in the afternoon. In addition the GPs' hold clinics for Minor
Operations, Anti-natal-clinic, Post natal, Baby checks, Joint
Injections. (Reception staff will advise you on times).
GP Consultations are by
appointment only, and we operate a
ten
minute appointment system for
routine consultations. ‘Extra slots’ of 5 minutes are available for
that do not require a visit to the surgery. If you are late for your
appointment, it is at the GP's discretion if you are seen or asked to
rebook your appointment. If you are upto % minutes late, you will be
seen for 5 mins only. as late for appointments over the day
accelerates the surgery running very late.
Appointments are also required when consulting the
Nurse Practitioner,
Practice Nurses and other health care professionals. The length of
these appointments varies according to the type of treatment or
service being provided.
Nursing cover is provided with morning and evening surgeries, We have
one Nurse Practitioner, three part-time Practice Nurses and a Health
Care Assistant.
